Abnormal Psychology

Abnormal Psychology is one of the branches of psychology which deals with study of abnormal behaviors of individuals. It is also concerned with emotional and mental disorders. It is a broad field covers topics fall within its area of major focus: psychopathology, normal processes in abnormal individuals, pathological or atypical features of the behavior of normal persons, experimental studies, with human or animal subjects, relating to disordered emotional behavior or pathology, sociocultural effects on pathological processes, including the influence of gender, ethnicity and tests of hypotheses from psychological theories that relate to abnormal behavior. International journal of school and cognitive psychology brings together the latest research on psychopathology in childhood and adolescence, with an emphasis on empirical studies of the major childhood disorders (the disruptive behavior disorders, depression, anxiety, and pervasive developmental disorders). Studies focus on the epidemiology, etiology, assessment, treatment, prognosis, follow-up, and developmental course of child and adolescent disorders. Studies highlighting risk and protective factors, the ecology and correlates of children's behavior problems, and advances in prevention and treatment are featured.
