Biography
Professor Mohammed Ohidul Haque was born in Bangladesh and earned his B. Sc (Hons.) and M. Sc degrees in Statistics from the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. He also has an Advanced Diploma in Econometrics and Planning from Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata, India, He came to Australia in 1977 as a Research Scholar to do his Ph. D at the University of Sydney, which he achieved successfully. He is also a professional Applied Econometrician & Statistician, and a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society (London) and a member of a number of professional and academic organizations around the world. Currently, Dr Haque is the Chief Executive Director and President of the International Institute of Business and Social Studies (IIBASS), Melbourne, Australia. He is also an Honorary Fellow of Economics of the University of Melbourne. During his career he has been Chief Econometrician at the Australian Institute of Family Studies, Head of the Evaluation and Statistical Services Section of Road Traffic Authority of Victoria, Melbourne and worked in many other organizations in various senior research and management positions in Australia and overseas. He is a professor of Applied Econometrics and Statistics of IIBASS, Melbourne. Prior to this he was an Associate Professor of Applied Econometrics and Statistics at the University of Brunei Darussalam (UBD). Before this he was a Senior Lecturer of Quantitative Methods at Victoria University in Melbourne, where he lectured Quantitative and Qualitative, Business Decisions and Health Economics courses for Ph. D, DBA and MBA courses in Australia, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Bangladesh and many other countries. He is a pioneer and one of the major exponents in income and consumption inequality, living standards, social justice and in road safety areas.
Research Interest
Dr M O Haque wrote more than 10 books in various prestigious presses in the world, such as Springer. He is the author of numerous journal articles, and research and technical reports which incorporate practical applications of business, public and social policy making purposes. He is the recipient of a Large Australian Research Council’s (ARC) Grant to undertake an important research on “Consumption Inequality in Australia”. Currently, he is heavily involved in a major study on “Income and Consumption Inequality, and Economic Development” for a number of countries to see the effect of the current economic development on income inequality.
