Biography

Chikara Ohtsuki is a professor at the Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya University, and is a fellow, Biomaterials Science & Engineering, International Union of Societies for Biomaterials Science & Engineering.He received his Ph.D. in Science at Kyoto University in 1992. After a year as an assistant professor at Kyoto University, he joined the Faculty of Engineering, Okayama University, Japan in 1993 as a lecturer where he advanced to associate professor in 1996. He joined the Graduate School of Materials Science, Nara Institute of Science and Technology in 1998 as an associate professor. In 2006, he joined the Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya University as a professor.
His research interests include the synthesis of biomaterials through biomimetic processes, reaction of bioactive ceramics with body fluid, design of novel biomaterials derived from ceramic materials, and synthesis of composite materials for biomedical applications.
