Social Psychiatry

Social psychiatry has been important in developing the concept of major life events as precipitants of mental ill health, including for example bereavement, promotion, moving house, having a child. Professionals of Social psychiatry work to link concepts such as self-esteem and self-efficacy to mental health, and in turn to socioeconomic factors. Facilitating the social inclusion of people with mental health problems is a major focus of modern social psychiatry. International Journal of Emergency Mental Health and Human Resilience is one of the top Social psychiatry journals. The journal presents an education series providing updates relevant to emergency mental health, as well as, an ongoing annotated research review of relevant papers published elsewhere thus making the Journal a unique and even more valuable reference resource.
