Journal of Proteomics & Bioinformatics

Proteomics is the large-scale study of proteins, particularly their structures and functions.[1][2] Proteins are vital parts of living organisms, as they are the main components of the physiological metabolic pathways of cells. The term "proteomics" was first coined in 1997[3] to make an analogy with genomics, the study of the genes. The word "proteome"is a blend of "protein" and "genome", and was coined by Prof Marc Wilkins in 1994 while working on the concept as a PhD student.[4][5] The proteome is the entire complement of proteins,[4] including the modifications made to a particular set of proteins, produced by an organism or system. This will vary with time and distinct requirements, or stresses, that a cell or organism undergoes.

In today's wired world information is available at the click of the button, curtsey the Internet. Journal of Proteomics& Bioinformatics-open access gives a worldwide audience larger than that of any subscription-based journal in -omics field, no matter how prestigious or popular, and provably increases the visibility and impact of published work. Journal of Proteomics& Bioinformatics-open access gives barrier-free access to the literature for research. It increases convenience, reach, and retrieval power.Free online literature is free online data for software that facilitates full-text searching, indexing, mining, summarizing, translating, querying, linking, recommending, alerting, "mash-ups" and other forms of processing and analysis.Journal of Proteomics& Bioinformatics- Open access puts rich and poor on an equal footing for these key resources and eliminates the need for permissions to reproduce and distribute content.

Introduction to Proteomics

The focus of "proteomics" is a biological group called the proteome. Structural proteomics in-depth analysis of protein structure.Expression proteomicsanalysis of expression and differential expression of proteins.Interaction proteomics analysis of interactions between proteins to characterize complexes and determine function.Proteomicsincludes not only the identification and quantification of proteins, proteomics now refers to any procedure that characterizes large sets of proteins Proteomics is defined as the systematic large-scale analysis of protein expression under normal and perturbed states.

Proteomics Definition

The goal of proteomics is a comprehensive.Proteomics is now considered to be one of the most important 'post-genome' approaches to help us understand gene function ,Proteomics is the study of proteome.Proteomics and protein chemistry involve protein identification.Proteomicsis the study of multiprotein systems.

Importance of Proteomics

Proteomics in reproductive research: The potential importance of proteomics to research in reproductionProteomics, the large-scale analysis of proteins.Proteomics is a technology platform that is gaining widespread use in drug discovery. The importance of proteomics is a direct consequence of the central role that proteins play in establishing the biological phenotype of organisms in healthy and diseased states. Proteomicscan be divided into three main areas.differential display' proteomicsfor comparison of protein levels with potential application in a wide range of diseases.

Proteomics Journals

ProteomicsVirtual Journal is available exclusively on the Web.The virtual journal covers the multi-disciplinary area of proteomics. The Open Proteomics Journal is an Open Access online journal which publishes original research articles in all areas of experimental and applied proteomics. The Journal of Proteomics covers all areas of applied and basic research in Proteomics using multi-disciplinary approaches to unravel biological processes
