Diabetes mellitus type 1 commonly known as known as type 1 diabetes, and classified as insulin dependent diabetes or juvenile diabetes is a form of diabetes mellitus which is caused due to autoimmune disorder which results in destruction of the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. People specially infants with type 1 diabetes thus are unable to produce enough insulin to control blood sugar. As a treatment for type 1 diabetes insulin is injected through the skin into the fatty tissue below before every meal.
