Biography

I am currently involved in several research projects related to the management of Diabesity. I have been successful in obtaining funding and I am the principal investigator for the National Institute of Health research (NIHR), research design Service for Yorkshire & the Humber (RDS YH) funded pilot project along with Huddersfield University. This involves a scoping project which would identify the gaps in the current service provided for people with diabetes. Once this project is completed further research would be undertaken to find ways to close these gaps and improve service provided.
My research project for MSc (Diabetes) was “Comparison of knowledge of diabetic foot and foot care between diabetic patients with and with out at risk foot ulcer”.
I have been involved actively in a number of national and international multi-centred trials.

1. PREDICTIVE (Predictable results and experience in diabetes through intensification and control to target: An international variability Evaluation) - Principal investigator, Leeds General infirmary
2. CARDS (Collaborative AtoRvastatin Diabetes Study) -Investigator, Dewsbury District Hospital
3. IMAGES (Intravenous Magnesium Efficacy in Stroke) -Investigator, Dewsbury District Hospital
4. OPUS (Orbofiban in Patients with Unstable Coronary Syndrome) -Investigator, Dewsbury District Hospital.  The OPUS study has been discontinued due to more than predicted adverse events from the drug.
