Biography

Shuang Wang, Ph.D., is a postdoctoral fellow in the Division of Biomedical informatics (DBMI) at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Dr. Wang’s research interests include biomedical data privacy, data compression, data analysis and high performance computing (HPC). He holds a master degree in biomedical engineering from Dalian University of Technology (DUT), China, and a doctoral degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Oklahoma (OU).He won the first China Youth Science & Technology Innovation prize (Nation-wide Top 100) during his master’s study and was the first international student to be awarded the Robert Hughes Centennial Fellowship (Top 1%) during his Ph.D. studies at OU. He has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles related to biomedicine, machine learning, data compression, data privacy and HPC. Dr. Wang has reviewed 60+ manuscripts for several journals and conferences. He has served in the program committees for the 2012 IEEE HISB conference, 2013 IEEE WCN conference and the 2nd privacy workshop of iDASH (an NCBC funded by the NIH). Dr. Wang, as a PI, has recently received a seed hardware grant from NVIDIA to support his studies in GPU-based HPC for genomic analysis and privacy. Dr. Wang also serves as a Co-PI on a data compression project sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China with PI Dr. Yong Fang.
