Biography

Walter Kurt Kreyszig, graduate of Yale (Ph.D. and M.Phil. in Historical Musicology), Western (M.A. in Musicology) and Windsor (B.Mus. with distinction; recipient of Board Governor’s Medal in performance), Professor of Musicology, University of Saskatchewan, Fellow of the American Biographical Institute (Raleigh, North Carolina), Deputy Director General of the International Biographical Centre (Cambridge, England); Associate Member, Department of Educational Foundations, University of Saskatchewan; Member of Centre for Canadian Studies, University Of Vienna; Honorary Member of the Golden Key International Honour Society (in recognition of his mentorship of undergraduate and graduate students); life-member of International Musicological Society, American Musicological Society, Renaissance Society of America, College Music Society, and Swiss Musicological Society. Dr. Kreyszig specializes in musicology (with emphasis on music of the First and Second Viennese Schools of Composition, and Canadian Music), musical humanism, the history of music theory, iconography, organology, palaeography and performance practices, with numerous publications in both North American and European Journals.
