Monte Carlo acceptance (MC) methods naturally and easily treat different thermodynamic ensembles. MC methods offer great flexibility in choosing the random moves by which the system evolves. This can often greatly speed equilibration in complex systems. MC methods are not subject to inaccuracies due to discrete-time approximations of the equations of motion. MC methods require only energies in order to generate the atomic trajectories.
