Pancreas is glandular organ of digestive system as well as endocrine system. It is located in the abdomen. It is about six inches long and is shaped like a flat pear. During the exocrine function, pancreases secrete pancreatic juice containing digestive enzymes which helps digestion and absorption of nutrients in the small intestine. As an endocrine gland, pancreas produces many hormones including insulin, glucagon, somatostatin, and pancreatic polypeptide which are secreted in the blood. The part of the pancreas with endocrine function is made up of clusters of cells called islets of Langerhans.
