Vortex Breakdown

Vortex breakdown also known as vortex bursting, the phenomenon of vortex breakdown occurs sometimes in vortex filaments such as trailing vortices. This phenomenon is an abrupt and drastic change of structure which sometimes occurs in a swirling flow. Even after three decades of research, however, the physical mechanism that leads to vortex breakdown is not well understood. Vortex breakdown occurs in two distinct types: bubble or axisymmetric type and spiral type. In the first type of breakdown, there is a rapid expansion of the core forming a bubble-like structure that is nearly axisymmetric. In the second type, the vortex centerline deforms into a spiral without any appreciable growth in core size. An important feature of vortex breakdown is that the axial flow, which is necessary for the breakdown, decelerates along the vortex axis. A journal is a periodical publication intended to further progress of science, usually by reporting new research. Most journals are highly specialized, although some of the oldest journals publish articles, reviews, editorials, short communications, letters, and scientific papers across a wide range of scientific fields. Journals contain articles that peer reviewed, in an attempt to ensure that articles meet the journal's standards of quality, and scientific validity. Each such journal article becomes part of the permanent scientific record. Physics behind Vortex breakdown is well explained in Journal of Vortex science and technology. The manuscripts published in this journal are best indexed and present current research in the form of original research and review. All published articles are permanently archived and available at OMICS Group website in HTML, Digital, Audio and PDF formats. The articles published in this journal are indexed in Media Finder, Journal Seek and Google Scholar. OMICS Group International is an amalgamation of Open Access publications and worldwide international science conferences and events. Established in the year 2007 with the sole aim of making the information on Sciences and technology Open Access, OMICS Group publishes 700+ peer-reviewed journals in all aspects of Science, Engineering, Management and Technology journals. OMICS Group has been instrumental in taking the knowledge on Science & technology to the doorsteps of ordinary men and women. Research Scholars, Students, Libraries, Educational Institutions, Research centers and the industry are main stakeholders that benefitted greatly from this knowledge dissemination. OMICS Group also organizes 3000+ International Scientific Conferences annually across the globe, where knowledge transfer takes place through debates, round table discussions, poster presentations, workshops, symposia and exhibitions.
